Controlled Fire Management
UAV-based Monitoring of Fire and Regeneration Dynamics
Controlled burning was implemented to rejuvenate old heath stands. It was accompanied by extensive field campaigns and drone flights to record the vegetation status before and after fire management. Impressive multi-angle views are recorded for clearly framed management areas that reveal hidden structures of vegetation growth, microrelief and soil formations.
We mark individual heath plants, grass and tree patches in order to evaluate heathland recovery dynamics and re-sprouting after burning. Change detection analysis and pattern detection of regrowth will allow for a detailed understanding of fire effects and enables a remote UAV-based monitoring for nature conservation planning.
